You Said YES! Now What?

Did you know that according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in 2014 2,140,272 marriages occurred in the United States? Break that down-and that’s 5,863 per day! To break it down even more, in 2014 Stanislaus County issued 2,590 marriage licenses! That’s over 7 a day!

With all the weddings happening in Stanislaus County you would think we would have it down. It would be natural to assume that everyone planning a wedding would be stress free thanks to all the advice of the other 2,590 couple who got married. But let’s be real, that’s not the case AT ALL. The Knot did a study in 2010 (they surveyed 19,000 brides that got married in 2010) and it found that “nearly 50% of brides found that planning their wedding was more stressful than expected” and “in the last three months leading up to their wedding, brides spend an average of 11 hours a week planning.”

These are BIG numbers. Think about it, in one 24 hour period, say you work 9 hours (one hour lunch break), commuting time there and back is 2 hours, you sleep for 8 hours (you wish right?), that leaves you 5 hours for everything else: getting ready for work, chores, maybe a social hour here and there, or spending time with your fiancé or kids. And now you have to squeeze in 1.5 hours a day for wedding planning?! How is there time? Which then is where that stress level comes in at. Planning a birthday party is stressful, let alone a wedding where you are trying to make your fairy tale, childhood dreams come true.

In the same 2010 study done by The Knot, “nearly 1 In 3 hire or use an event/wedding planner, with more than half of those brides hiring them for day-of coordination (52%).” So out of that 19,000 surveyed only 6,300 of brides got it right.

Which brings us to the whole point of this-why hire an event/wedding planner? I mean out of 19,000 brides 12,700 didn’t use one so why should you, right? Let’s go back to the stress survey-50% of those 19,000 brides that it was more stressful than they anticipated!
